A guy said you need to be discriminative to become ultra wealthy. I wanted to explore that belief.

A guy on social media who is worth millions of dollars recently replied to a young man’s question about the secret to becoming ultra wealthy. He said something like this. To reach a higher level of wealth, you need to be discriminative. You look at who people are, what car they drive and what house they live in. If they do not show the right signs, then something is wrong and he does not want to spend time with them.

Hearing this made me stop and reflect. Many young people and many adults are still learning how to build success and financial freedom. When they hear comments like this, what will they believe. Will they start thinking that the path to wealth is to judge others and only associate with people who look wealthy or important. Is this truly the way to build a meaningful life.

Because I enjoy learning and I am still creating my own version of success and freedom, I wanted to understand this belief more deeply. I wanted to know if discrimination is truly the foundation of ultra wealth or if there are other paths that align more naturally with integrity and purpose.

So I searched online. I looked at whether exclusivity is considered a requirement for becoming ultra wealthy. Then I looked for someone who became extremely wealthy through inclusivity, creativity and respect for others. Richard Branson appeared immediately. He is known for speaking openly about inclusivity and treating people fairly. He has shared many statements about embracing different perspectives and creating a world that works for a wide range of people. His success is built on innovation and openness rather than judgement or exclusion.

This made me curious. If two people hold completely opposite values, how different are their results. So I compared the numbers. Richard Branson is worth around two point eight billion dollars. The other man is worth several hundred million dollars. The difference is significant. One person speaks about discrimination as a strategy. Yet the person who lives by the opposite philosophy has reached a much higher level of wealth.

If discrimination was truly the only path to ultra wealth, then someone who practices inclusivity would not be standing at a far higher level of success. But he is. And his life shows that success can be built through contribution, service and the way we treat people. This reminded me of something important. We carry our values into everything we do. The beliefs we hold about how success works will show up in our conversations, in our leadership, in our business and in our relationships. A belief is not just a strategy. It becomes a way of life.

I wrote this for myself and for anyone who is on the journey of creating success and freedom. In a world filled with endless opinions, it is easy to feel confused. That man found his own path. We cannot say it is wrong. It is simply his path. If being discriminative truly brings someone inner peace and joy, and if it aligns with the person they want to be, then that is their choice. I understand the philosophy behind his words, and I go deeper into this idea in another article where I reflect on how the people around us can shape our growth. But it does not mean we should put anyone else down. We can grow without judging others. But if it does not align with your values, please do not feel pressured to follow it. You do not need to change who you are in order to become successful. Richard Branson is real life proof that you can become far wealthier by being inclusive, creative and focused on serving people. Success has many paths. Choose the one that matches your values and the person you want to become.
