How conversations about beauty standards save young lives

How conversations about beauty standards save young lives

📊 Sixty six percent of students say they have experienced appearance based judgment, according to the Butterfly Foundation.

✨ I am going to Wangaratta today to share my journey with Year 11 students from Yarrawonga at the North East Multicultural Association ( NEMA ). Every time I speak to young people it takes me back to when I was their age. I remember trying to tell my mum about my struggles with judgment around appearance. She did not know how to support me because like so many of us we were unknowingly caught up in narrow beauty standards.

That is why moments like today mean so much to me. Each time I have the chance to speak with students I share my personal story openly so they know they are not alone and can find healthier ways to face these challenges.

The picture is from my last talk with the Wangaratta Council Youth Leaders.

If your school or community is looking for workshops on body image and self confidence, I am now taking bookings. These workshops help young people and workplaces build healthier self esteem and create a culture that supports positive body image.
