About being labelled in Australia

Growing up in Taiwan, I have been constantly labelled into various categories. These labels left me with hurt and low self-esteem.

After I came to Australia, I integrated into completely different social values. Although the labels I was attached to in Taiwan have gradually fallen off due to differences in cultural values and the passage of time, I have gradually begun to have new labels.

All the while, these labels led me to believe that I wasn’t good enough. No matter how hard I try, it‘s never good enough. I can’t make everyone happy with all my behaviours and decisions.

In the end, I discovered that even if I satisfied one person, another person at the far end with different values may also be dissatisfied with my behaviour. While I was satisfying others, I would also start to feel dissatisfied with my own behavior in the dead of night, complaining about why I didn‘t make a decision that would satisfy me.

The bottom line is, no matter what decision you make, someone will be unhappy with it. In order to be satisfied with yourself in the dead of night, please make the choice that you are happy with for your own sake.
