Facing Fear, Finding Growth

Facing Fear, Finding Growth

People have often described me as bold after knowing my stories, likely because of the significant decisions I’ve made in the past. While I appreciate their words, the truth is, being bold doesn’t mean being fearless. It simply means choosing to move forward even when fear is present.

I’ve always believed in the value of starting before we feel completely ready. This doesn’t mean I don’t care about doing my best, I care deeply. But I’ve also come to understand that, like many people, I sometimes delay facing difficult challenges. Not because I’m lazy or unwilling, but because it’s hard to face the possibility of falling short or feeling unprepared.

And that’s okay. It’s human to want to protect ourselves from discomfort. But here’s the thing: when we really want something, how much preparation is “enough”? Are we giving ourselves time to grow, or are we using preparation as a way to shield ourselves from the challenge?

There’s no right or wrong here, only gentle reflection. We don’t have to be perfect to begin, and we don’t have to have it all figured out. With kindness toward ourselves, we can take that first step and trust that we’ll learn as we go.
