From Good to Great

From Good to Great

Sometimes, it is tempting to think that small imperfections do not matter. A tiny misalignment or a minor flaw might seem like something no one would notice. But over time, I have come to realize that these details make a difference, not just in the final product, but in how people experience and trust what we create.

In my bookbinding business, my supplier once thought I was too particular. I would double check materials, request adjustments, and insist on a certain level of quality. And honestly, I do care about perfection. But perfection comes at a cost, sometimes in money, sometimes in time, and sometimes in energy. That is why I have learned to focus on what truly matters, not chasing flawlessness, but upholding a standard of excellence that is worth the investment.

There is a balance between being realistic and maintaining high standards. Some details may not be worth fixing, but others define the difference between something ordinary and something exceptional. Every small effort, whether it is making sure a book feels just right in someone’s hands or ensuring an order is packaged with care, becomes part of the experience. And that experience is what builds trust, connection, and appreciation over time.

I still have so much to learn and improve. The more I grow, the more I realize that striving for excellence is an ongoing journey. There are always new ways to refine my craft, serve people better, and understand what truly makes an impact.

No matter what we do, the care we put into our work speaks for itself. Whether in business, creativity, or how we show up for others, those small efforts shape the impact we leave behind. It is not about being perfect at all costs, it is about knowing which details matter most and making them count.

If this resonates with you, feel free to share. Let’s remind each other that the little things do matter.
