Seeking validation can kill the possibility.

Seeking validation can kill the possibility.

Over the years, I have learnt that asking for validation to do something does not work for me.

Eight years ago, no one supported my decision to leave my architectural degree in Taiwan and travel to Australia, but I persisted in my thoughts about visiting.

Exploring the bigger world was my best decision in life. It was a considerable risk for me when I was 19, but the journey of breaking cultural barriers has been incredible.

Today, the people who did not support me in the first place congratulated me for settling in this foreign country.

I trust my instinct; I can make things work.

I sometimes feel compelled to seek advice, comforting myself through validation. But when the query is beyond a person’s experience and knowledge, we are tripping ourselves over a stone on a possibility.

Undoubtedly, resourceful advice could save us lots of energy to walk through some mistakes.

I am always careful with what I say to people, not to kill the possibility ahead of them, but also to point out the possible barriers as an opportunity to learn and grow, not to make it a discouragement.
