The Part You Hide Might Be the Part That Shines

The Part You Hide Might Be the Part That Shines

The bearded lady in The Greatest Showman stands in front of everyone and sings with all her heart:

“When the sharpest words wanna cut me down. I am gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out. I am brave, I am bruised. I am who I am meant to be, this is me.”

This film is a powerful story about self acceptance. This song is raw and full of emotion, carrying pain, defiance and fierce courage all at once. You can feel her heartbreak from years of being mocked and laughed at for her appearance, yet you can also feel her determination to break through every label the world tries to put on her.

No matter what situation you are in right now, maybe you do not feel proud of who you are, or maybe you feel that the people you care about feel embarrassed to stand beside you. Please remember this:

Sometimes, the very part of you that you feel ashamed of can become the part that makes you shine the brightest. The pain and the struggle behind it can turn into unstoppable strength that helps you move forward. How you choose to use that pain is completely your decision.

I share my own journey in my book #FromUglyToBeautifulWithoutSurgery because I hope it gives you the courage to face the world with your true self and keep moving forward no matter what. You are worth standing tall for.
