We all go through seasons when life feels overwhelming. For one of my recent clients, that season came when a close family member became seriously ill. He was trying to hold everything together on his own. You could see the weight of it in his face, his voice, his posture.
As we talked, he shared his frustration, fear, and exhaustion. But then, something shifted. His voice softened. His shoulders relaxed just a little. And he said something that stayed with me:
“Maybe I can use this to help someone else one day.”
That was the turning point. The pain was still there, but now it had meaning. It had become a quiet motivation. A reason to keep going. A chance to turn hardship into compassion.
It reminded me of my own journey through low self worth. For a long time, I saw my struggles as something to hide. But over time, I began to realise that those very struggles were shaping my ability to support others. What once felt like a weakness became the bridge that connected me to others in their pain.
We cannot control everything that happens in life. But we can choose how we meet it. And sometimes, the hardest moments become the ones that grow the deepest strength.
If this speaks to you or someone you know, feel free to share it. You never know who might need to hear it today.
