Why Life Feels Stuck

Why Life Feels Stuck

In the Netflix movie All We Had, a single mother named Rita tells her teenage daughter Ruthie, “Don’t trust people. The nice ones always end up being the biggest assholes.”

Rita has been through a lot. She has struggled financially and emotionally, and life has never been easy for her. Her words come from pain, but they also reflect something deeper.

The word “always” can be one of the most dangerous words we use. It carries weight. It defines things in absolutes. In my work with clients, I often help them notice the unconscious language patterns that shape their view of the world. Words like “always,” “never,” and “should” can quietly trap us in limiting beliefs.

When we say we are “stuck,” it is often because we can not see any other path. But what if the path is there, and we have simply spoken ourselves into a corner?

By becoming aware of the language we use, we give ourselves permission to shift perspective. And that can change everything.
